2024 Annual Conference on Independent Living

Event Description: 

NCIL has opened registration for the 2024 Annual Conference on Independent Living!

The theme of NCIL’s 2024 Annual Conference is Back to the Future. This year’s conference will feature influential speakers, educational workshops, and the March and Rally at the Capitol. NCIL’s Annual Conference will take place onsite in Washington, DC, July 22-25, 2024. All registrations received and paid by Wednesday, May 1, 2024 are eligible for the Early Bird registration rates. 

Disability Advisory Committee Meeting

Event Description: 

The next Federal Communications Commission (FCC) -  Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) meeting, where DAC members will engage in discussions covering a working group report and recommendation on the transmittal of audio description files to Internet Protocol programming, will be held on Tuesday, January 30. Participants will also receive updates on best practices for quality Telecommunications Relay Services and the use of artificial intelligence to caption live video programming during this meeting.

Understanding the U.S. Access Board's Final Rule on the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (In-Person):

Event Description: 

Join the Mid-Atlantic ADA Center and training sponsor, Howard County Government Office of ADA Coordination, for an in-person event to learn more about accessibility in the public right-of-way from the U.S. Access Board’s leading expert, Transportation Systems Engineer Juliet Shoultz. A networking breakfast and lunch will be provided. This training is approved to provide continuing education hours.

 

USAging 2023 Policy Briefing

Event Description: 

Join USAging for their annual policy briefing. The briefing will be an opportunity for stakeholders and aging advocates from across the country to connect, learn about the latest policy developments, and meet with Representatives and Senators in Washington D.C. The briefing will be held at the Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill. 

 

The event will take place Tuesday, April 25, 2023 beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET. 

Creating Dementia-Friendly Holidays

Event Description: 

This in-person event is intended for family caregivers, friends, and professionals to learn helpful tips for creating dementia-friendly environments during the holidays and beyond. It will discuss best practices for navigating meal times, family activities, travel, and more. This event will also serve as the kick-off for in-person consultations with AFA Helpline social workers.

New York State licensed social workers can earn 1 CE credit for attending.

This event will be held on December 16, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

2023 Age + Action Conference

Event Description: 

Registration is still open for the virtual component of the 2023 NCOA Age + Action Conference. This conference will be held in-person on June 12-13, 2023 in Arlington, VA, and virtually on June 20-21, 2023. Aging services professionals may register for virtual, in-person, or both. Professionals and advocates at the local, state, and national levels may submit presentations.
