The Nebraska Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCDD) is funding national subject matter expert Dave Whalen from Niagara University (NU) to bring the Emergency Management Disability Awareness Training (EM DAT) program to Nebraska. The program brings together the disability community and those with a role in disaster emergency response to educate on matters related to proper response for those with disabilities and access and functional needs.
ACL is hosting a virtual workshop to address the impact on services for older adults who depend on community service providers for basic needs and social supports during a major disaster. ACL has partnered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region II to provide a workshop to better prepare area agencies on aging (AAAs) and other organizations who provide support services for older adults for emergencies. March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. The Administration for Community Living is hosting Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Stakeholder Day on March 3, 2020. TBI Stakeholder Day is an opportunity for members of the TBI community to come to Washington, DC to discuss important issues around TBI services, supports, and systems and to learn from other stakeholders, brain injury survivors, family members, support networks, and state and federal representatives.

ACL has announced the second meeting of the advisory council established by the RAISE Family Caregivers Act. The purpose of this council is to provide recommendations on effective models of family caregiving and support to family caregivers. This meeting is open to the public. Individuals have the option to attend in person in Washington, DC or join virtually.
