The Voices of People with Disabilities and Older Adults - Strengthening Advocacy in the HCBS Settings Rule

Event Description: 

ACL is hosting this webinar to provide participants with an opportunity to learn when and how to invite and/or provide feedback on state efforts to comply with the HCBS Settings rule. Presenters will share key dates, strategies, and examples of how powerful the voices of people with lived experience can be in creating more opportunities for choice and control in service delivery, and advancing the quality of services.

Emergency Management Disability Awareness Training (EM DAT)

Event Description: 

The Nebraska Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCDD) is funding national subject matter expert Dave Whalen from Niagara University (NU) to bring the Emergency Management Disability Awareness Training (EM DAT) program to Nebraska. The program brings together the disability community and those with a role in disaster emergency response to educate on matters related to proper response for those with disabilities and access and functional needs.

 

2022 Spring Meeting

The 2022 ADvancing States Spring Meeting will take place in New Orleans on May 2-4th, for state directors of aging, disabilities, and Medicaid LTSS. This annual roundtable-style discussion symposium will feature sessions that are live webcasted and feature active participation from attendees and panelists.

Ready Seniors Virtual Workshop

Event Description: 

ACL is hosting a virtual workshop to address the impact on services for older adults who depend on community service providers for basic needs and social supports during a major disaster. ACL has partnered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region II to provide a workshop to better prepare area agencies on aging (AAAs) and other organizations who provide support services for older adults for emergencies. Traumatic Brain Injury Stakeholder Day

Event Description: 

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. The Administration for Community Living is hosting Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Stakeholder Day on March 3, 2020. TBI Stakeholder Day is an opportunity for members of the TBI community to come to Washington, DC to discuss important issues around TBI services, supports, and systems and to learn from other stakeholders, brain injury survivors, family members, support networks, and state and federal representatives.

ACL is also hosting a brown bag lunch during Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill on March 4, 2020.

The Census and the Disability Community: Get Ready to Be Counted!

RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council Virtual Meeting

Event Description: 

ACL has announced the second meeting of the advisory council established by the RAISE Family Caregivers Act. The purpose of this council is to provide recommendations on effective models of family caregiving and support to family caregivers. This meeting is open to the public. Individuals have the option to attend in person in Washington, DC or join virtually.
