How the Section 5310 Program Enhances Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities

Dual Eligible Demonstrations - An Update for Advocates

On Wednesday, December 3rd, 3:00-4:00 PM EST, the National Senior Citizens Law Center will present a free webinar on the dual eligible demonstrations. Over the past year, hundreds of thousands of dual eligible beneficiaries in several states received passive enrollment notices as part of the Financial Alignment Initiative. On January 1, 2015, another large wave of passive enrollment will begin. The webinar will provide an update for advocates navigating the existing enrollment process, as well as prepare advocates of states expected to begin enrollment in 2015.

Older Adult Behavioral Health: Current Trends and Programs that Make a Difference

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) Center for Healthy Aging will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, November 20th from 1:30-3:00pm EST, titled Older Adult Behavioral Health: Current Trends and Programs that Make a Difference. This webinar will feature an overview of current trends in older adult behavioral health (specifically anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention) by a national expert, paired with presentations by representatives from two community organizations that are successfully engaging older adults in behavioral health interventions.

Frequently Asked Questions on the ADA: Alternative Modes of Transportation

On Wednesday, November 19th, 2:00-3:30 PM EST, the Easter Seals Project ACTION staff will present a webinar on the rights of individuals with disabilities using alternative modes of transportation. Staff will discuss questions frequently received on the ADA with regards to alternate modes of transportation, such as how much assistance a taxicab operator is required to provide to people with disabilities and the requirements under the ADA on level rail boarding.

The Aging Network Volunteer Collaborative, along with n4a and First Advantage, a national provider of comprehensive background screening services, will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday, November 19th from 1:00-2:00pm EST, to learn about the partnership established in October 2012 to leverage premier-level services through web-based tools at a discounted rate - in some cases almost 80 percent off typical rates - for the Aging Network. These screening services can be used for volunteers and employees.
