The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have rescheduled the “Medicaid and CHIP Renewals: What to Know and How to Prepare” webinar from Wednesday, March 27, to Wednesday, April 3, at 12:00 p.m. ET. If you registered for the previously scheduled date, you do not need to re-register. The Zoom system will automatically keep you registered for this new date, but please update your calendar accordingly.

On March 20, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), announced a new voluntary model that empowers primary care providers in eligible Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to treat people with Medicare using innovative, team-based, person-centered proactive care.

Registration is now open for the 2024 CMS Health Equity Conference, scheduled for May 29-30. The free, hybrid conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bethesda, MD, and will be available for both in-person and online virtual participation. The conference, organized by the CMS Office of Minority Health, brings together health equity leaders from federal and local agencies, health provider organizations, academia, community-based organizations, and others to explore and sustain health equity through action.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking public comments on a new proposed rule designed to ensure airline passengers who use wheelchairs can travel safely and with dignity. The proposed rule would set new standards for prompt, safe, and dignified assistance; require enhanced training for airline employees and contractors who physically assist passengers with disabilities and handle passengers’ wheelchairs; and specify actions that airlines must take to protect passengers when a wheelchair is damaged during transport.
