The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) and the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) are hosting a webinar to improve disability access and inclusion among sexual health providers. Real Talk: Conversations and resources about sexuality for young people with disabilities and sexual health providers started a series of dialogues that people with disabilities shared about their experiences with sexual health providers.

The Disability and Aging Collaborative is hosting a webinar on the Implementation of the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Setting Rule. Attendees will be updated on the status of implementation of the HCBS rule. Speakers Alison Barkoff, Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law; Nicole Jorwic, The Arc of the United States; Elizabeth Edwards, National Health Law Program; and David Machledt, National Health Law Program will discuss the opportunities that are available for consumer engagement and resources and tools for state advocates.

The American Society on Aging is offering two courses in partnership with the University of Southern California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. Health and Wellness in an Aging Society, is a new five-week course taught by the leading experts in the nation. Helping Rural Elders Achieve Aging Mastery

Event Description: 
The National Council on Aging is sponsoring a webinar to help rural elders achieve aging mastery. This is an information webinar for attendees to learn more about an open request for proposals for the Aging Mastery Program AMP. AMP is a nationwide program that includes a 10-week core curriculum to teach participants about ways to enhance their health, financial well-being, social connectedness, and overall quality of life. The goal of this webinar is to promote this initiative in 39 small towns and rural areas in Minnesota, Washington, and Wisconsin.

National Aging and Law Conference

The Center for Professional Development and the Commission on Law and Aging are sponsoring the National Aging and Law Conference. This year's theme is Celebrating Anniversaries with Action in recognition of the 80th anniversary of Social Security, the 50th anniversaries of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act, and the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Residents' Rights Month

October is Residents' Rights Month, a month to honor residents living in long-term care facilities. This month is a time to celebrate and bring awareness to the dignity, respect, and value of every single resident. This year's theme is "CARE Matters," which has the goal of encouraging residents and others to be educated about staffing and long-term care. The Consumer Voice held a competition for residents in the United States to submit pieces of art ranging from stories to photographs that represent this year's theme.
