World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Event Description: 

Every year on June 15, we observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). This is an opportunity to raise awareness of elder abuse and neglect, and to continue to commit to preserving the rights of older adults. In the lead up to WEAAD, ACL and ACL and the National Center on Elder Abuse have planned many activities and developed several resources.

No Wrong Door Medicaid Workbook and Tools Webinar

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living is hosting a webinar to provide tips on navigating the No Wrong Door Medicaid Administrative Claiming Workbook and Toolkit and to feature states that are currently claiming. This toolkit can help guide states through the process of implementing Medicaid claiming. It offers downloadable tools and templates, including PowerPoint presentations to help engage partners and stakeholders, a cost simulator, claiming code guidance, cost allocation spreadsheets, and more.

HCBS Quality Measurement Tools

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is hosting a webinar on Home and Community-Based (HCBS) Measurement Tools. This webinar is the fourth event in ACL's HCBS quality informational webinar series. Presenter will discuss background and progress updates on the HCBS Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey, the Experience of Care (EOC) Survey and the Functional Assessment Standardized Items (FASI), and how these tools can be used at state and local levels.

Suspicious Activity Reports and Their Role in Identifying and Remedying Elder Financial Exploitation

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is hosting a webinar for Adult Protective Services (APS) agencies and community-based organizations in the aging and disability networks to learn about tools and approaches to address elder financial exploitation. During this webinar, presenters will discuss how federal agencies are teaming up to help law enforcement agencies and financial institutions more effectively respond to financial exploitation and how you can join the fight.

International Perspectives on Supporting People with Dementia and Caregivers

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center in partnership with the American Society on Aging is presenting a webinar on the results from a survey on stigma given to people with dementia and caregivers from 54 countries. The presenters will also discuss Scotland’s 10-year journey to improve dementia care and how Focus on Dementia is supporting the implementation of the dementia strategy in practice.

Webinar: Implementing Person-Centered Principles in TBI Service Systems

Event Description: 

ACL is hosting a webinar to ensure that lead state representatives and other professionals throughout the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) community have an opportunity to hear from ACL about their vision and to begin identifying strategies for implementing person-centered principles in the development of state TBI infrastructure. ACL’s Shawn Terrell will discuss an overview of what constitutes person-centered principles.

The Role of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Accreditation as Part of a Broader Business Development Strategy for CBOs

The Administration for Community Living’s Office of Nutrition and Health Promotion Programs (ONHPP), in collaboration with consultant Tim McNeill, is hosting a webinar on the role of National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation as part of a broader business development strategy for CBOs. This webinar will discuss NCQA LTSS accreditation requirements, the process of obtaining accreditation, and the role that the NCQA accreditation plays in their overall business contracting strategy with MCOs.
