Critical Sector Job Quality Grants

The aim of this funding opportunity is to improve the job quality and availability of jobs in critical industries, including training provided for jobs like home care, elder care, and childcare. There is a demand for workers in care giving, and this grant will help to improve the quality of those jobs which have historically reported low wages, few benefits, and instability. The funding is both for short-term capacity-building planning grants and longer-term implementation grants.

Applications are due by Monday, July 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Medicare Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance Program: Funding for Title VI Native American Programs

On May 23, 2024, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) opened applications for the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) Funding for Beneficiary Outreach and Assistance for Older Americans Act (OAA) Title VI Native American Programs. Title VI Native American Programs can apply for MIPPA grants to hold outreach events informing elders about Medicare benefits (Part D, LIS, MSP) and preventive screenings. Funds are awarded based on elder population and require documented spending.

ACL Announces "Advancing State Implementation of the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers" Grant

ACL announced the availability of approximately $2 million to support the statewide implementation of the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers. ACL will award 4 cooperative agreements to state units on aging (SUA) to undertake several activities to fulfill this objective.

FY2024 Grants to Highest State Courts to Improve Guardianship

On April 17, 2024 the Administration for Community Living opened applications for the the Grants to Highest State Courts to Improve Guardianship. Funded projects will contribute to the improvement of the field of elder abuse prevention and intervention at large, such as by developing materials, programs, etc. that can be widely disseminated and/or replicated, or by establishing and/or contributing to the evidence-base of knowledge. For this opportunity, awards will be made to the highest state courts to improve guardianship systems.

Building State Capacity for Community-Informed Policymaking Learning and Action Series: Implementing a Medicaid Member Advisory Group

Event Description: 

To support states in designing and implementing CMS’ proposed member advisory groups, the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) is launching the Building State Capacity for Community-Informed Policymaking Learning and Action Series. This project will support Medicaid programs in establishing or strengthening a Medicaid member advisory group aligned with CMS’ vision for centering Medicaid lived experience in Medicaid program and policy decision-making processes.

Two NCAPPS Technical Assistance Opportunities Open

Event Description: 

The National Center on Advancing Person-Centered Practices and Systems (NCAPPS) recently announced the availability of two new technical assistance opportunities. The first focuses on person-centered thinking, planning, and practice. The second focuses on home and community-based services (HCBS) and addressing rights restrictions for people receiving support.
