Educating Older Adults About the COVID-19 Vaccine

Event Description: 
With funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration and the Public Health Institute, USAging is providing new tools to help the Aging Network educate their communities on COVID infection rates, safety and vaccinations. SHIP TA Center has developed a new consumer handout explaining Medicare coverage of the COVID-19 vaccine. The handout is available in seven languages and comes with a guide for professionals in English and Spanish titled, Talking about Medicare Coverage of the COVID-19 Vaccine.
 

Hebrew SeniorLife’s R3 Initiative–Right Care, Right Place, Right Time: Effectively Integrating Senior Care and Housing

Event Description: 
Hebrew SeniorLife has developed a population health approach to supporting older adults living in congregate housing. A prevention focused, place-based teamworks to develop relationships with residents, connect them to services and facilitate communication between housing staff and healthcare providers. The R3 program brought together area agencies on aging, payers, and municipal services to create a high quality and sustainable model of supports for older adults.

The Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is charged with identifying, promoting, coordinating, and disseminating to the public information, resources, and the best practices available to help grandparents and other older relatives meet the needs of the children in their care, and maintain their own physical, mental health and emotional well-being.

This webinar will introduce a new toolkit which explores the value of Master Plans on Aging (MPAs), outlines their core goals, and reviews strategies to build momentum and buy-in for an MPA. The webinar will also outline eight steps that stakeholders can use to build governor and legislature support for their MPA. 2021 Symposium: Supporting Older Adults, Caregivers, and People with Disabilities Through Innovative Volunteer Models

To promote and elevate awareness of the Community Care Corps initiative, and in conjunction with National Family Caregivers Month, USAging is hosting a symposium on November 16th and 17th. Speakers will share information and insights on ways to engage leaders and activate volunteers to participate in innovative models that address the needs of caregivers at the community level. Keynote presentations and panel discussions will feature grantees, researchers and other experts from the Aging Network on caregiving, volunteerism and the value and impact of non-medical assistance.
