Emerging Workforce Practices for Self Direction

Event Description: 

This session is also part of the Applied Self Direction virtual conference. The session will feature a panel of speakers discussing emerging workforce practices for self-direction including: a tool that enables connections between disabled people and their families seeking staffing support to professionals and community members, collaborating with universities to create educational opportunities and credits for working as a direct care worker, and an e-learning skills-training platform for self-direction workers. 

 

An Untapped Funding Approach: Using Medicaid to Offset Wages for Care

Event Description: 

This session from Applied Self Direction’s ongoing virtual conference series will discuss how Medicaid can pay for the proportional room and board costs for  a live-in personal care worker. The session will explore how the caregiver’s free housing can in effect act as a rent subsidy for a Medicaid recipient who otherwise cannot afford housing and can offset wages otherwise owed to the caregiver for providing personal care to the Medicaid recipient.

This virtual session will take place on Tuesday, March 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET.

National Disability Rights Conference

Event Description: 

The National Disability Rights Network is hosting their annual conference for disability rights advocates. The conference will feature 40 sessions intended to provide an overview of new and emerging trends in disability rights, offer insights and potential strategies on a wide range of disability rights topics, and to highlight successful efforts by P&As across the network and how they might be replicated by other agencies. The conference will also include virtual networking sessions where attendees can meet and connect. 

The Role of Transportation in Cross-Sector Collaborations Designed to Improve Housing Stability

Event Description: 

The Housing and Services Resource Center is hosting a webinar on the role of partnerships between housing, transportation, aging and disability, and health resources in supporting housing stability and community living for older adults and people with disabilities. The webinar will highlight effective collaborations with public transportation, share technical assistance resources that can be used to strengthen community transportation partnerships, and answer questions from attendees. 

This webinar will be held on Monday, February 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET.
