The Center for Health Care Strategies is hosting a webinar on CDC’s 6|18 Initiative. The webinar will introduce the Initiative and highlight recent accomplishments from participating Medicaid-public health teams. Medicaid and public health representatives from Colorado and Nevada will describe key activities, collaboration strategies, and lessons from their efforts to reduce tobacco use and prevent type 2 diabetes under the 6|18 Initiative. The webinar will also introduce CHCS’ Resource Center for Implementing CDC’s 6|18 Initiative.

Partnership Opportunities for Payers, Providers and States: Supportive Housing for High Utilizers

Event Description: 
Evidence demonstrates that supportive housing improves health outcomes for individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health, and/or substance use disorders. It also reduces utilization of emergency room services, inpatient bed days, and community justice involvement. This webinar will cover specific programs which have been shown to be effective at reducing utilization of healthcare services and reducing costs. Presenters for this webinar include supportive housing consultants from Medicaid and Health Management Associates (HMA). 

Creating Spaces and Making Them Safe for LGBT Older Adults

This special PRIDE month webinar from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) will address the importance of making spaces safe, as well as creating space, for LGBT older adults. A variety of presenters will speak and discuss how professionals in the aging space can help ensure that the health, economic security, and dignity of LGBT older adults is protected.

Legal Basics: Medicaid Appeals

Event Description: 

This webinar will discuss Medicaid applicants’ right to appeal the denial, limitation, reduction, termination, or suspension of Medicaid services. It will cover Medicaid due process protections, the different Medicaid appeal processes, and ways to address obstacles frequently encountered during the appeal process. Presenters are Eric Carlson and Jennifer Goldberg, Directing Attorneys at Justice in Aging.
