NCLER is hosting a webinar to discuss recent changes relating to older adults, Medicaid, and long-term services and supports in response to COVID-19. This webinar will cover the ability to receive visitors in nursing facilities and other long-term care facilities, with a focus on recent federal guidance, as well as access to support persons in hospitals. Other topics include Medicaid changes to emergency eligibility protections, modifications to programs for home and community-based services, and vaccine distribution.

The APS TARC is hosting a training for adult protective services and related disciplines on practical ethics. This workshop addresses ethical practice and policy decisions using teaching methodologies and content that take ethics from the dry theoretical to rich applications for all professionals. These decisions can range from concerns about whether to accept a gift that doesn’t have significant monetary value to deciding whether to leave someone at risk out of respect for their right to make autonomous decisions.

Financial exploitation and fraudulent scams aimed at older adults result in the loss of billions of dollars every year. These crimes often go unreported because victims are scared, embarrassed, or don’t know who to call. The U.S. Department of Justice National Elder Fraud Hotline, managed by the Office for Victims of Crime, provides services to adults aged 60 and older who experience fraud and exploitation to help them report the crime and access appropriate resources.
