Annual Elder Justice Training

Event Description: 
Join Nebraska HHS for the annual Elder Justice Training on August 10, 2022. The training has a panel of speakers who will address issues facing older adults including hoarding, elder abuse, scams and frauds, broadband access, aging demographics, mental health and depression, guardianship and more. The training has been approved for 6.25 CLEs for attorneys in Nebraska as well as 6.15 CEUs for nurses in Nebraska. If you are not located in Nebraska, you can reach out to your licensing board to confirm if you can receive credit.
 

NADTC Transportation Equity Stakeholder Meeting - Rural and Tribal

Event Description: 
NADTC will be hosting a Virtual Transportation Equity Stakeholder Meeting on June 23, 2022 with a focus on rural, tribal, and frontier areas. The meeting will be conducted as an open forum with opportunities for transportation stakeholders who support community transportation for older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers to share their perspectives and experiences. Public transit and human services transportation providers and other stakeholders, including aging, disability and diversity professionals and advocates, are invited.

NADTC will convene Virtual Transportation Equity Stakeholder Meetings on June 21 and June 23, 2022. The meeting on June 21st will focus on urban and suburban areas and the meeting on June 23rd will focus on rural, tribal, and frontier areas. These meetings will be conducted as open forums with opportunities for transportation stakeholders who support community transportation for older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers to share their perspectives and experiences.

Emergency Response for People Living with Dementia and Their Caregivers

Event Description: 
Join NADRC for a disucssion about preparing for emergencies through coordinated efforts of first responders and local aging organizations. The Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging and Pelham Fire Department have worked closely the last several years on a variety of innovations under the aging network to produce better outcomes for Area Agency on Aging clients. During this webinar, they will share how these partnerships started, examples of innovative programs, and information on how to prepare organizations, people living with dementia, and their caregivers for disasters.

Virtual Panel on Nursing Home and Scams/Fraud Prevention Messaging

Event Description: 
The Elder Justice Coordinating Council brings together leaders from across the federal government to address issues of elder justice nationally. Council members include the leaders of federal departments, agencies, and entities administering programs related to abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation. The next EJCC webinar meeting will feature a panel on nursing home reform, enforcement, and residents’ rights as well as a panel on effective messaging to prevent scams and fraud targeting seniors.
 

Intergenerational Programs Potpourri: Tips and Strategies to Develop Engagement Opportunities Between Generations

Event Description: 
This webinar will focus on intergenerational social engagement programs. Attendees will hear from Generations United on how intergenerational programs provide social engagement that benefits older and younger generations, including current trends and tips for developing local programs. Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens, DOROT and the University of Colorado Anschutz Multidisciplinary Center on Aging will then highlight intergenerational programs offered by their organizations and discuss how other organizations can create and implement similar offerings.

Addressing Housing Accessibility through Cross-Sector Partnerships: A Closer Look at Home Modification Collaborations at Work

During this webinar attendees will learn about types of partners to engage in cross-sector collaboration for expanding access to home modification. Presenters will share first-hand experiences with establishing partnerships across the housing, aging, and disability sectors, including assistive technology. They will discuss how collaboration has helped them meet home modification needs of people with disabilities and older adults. The webinar will also provide resources for educating consumers and identifying home modification services and funding sources in each state.
