The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Vaccination Team is hosting an upcoming webinar review important changes to the surveillance definition of Up to Date with COVID-19 vaccines for long-term care facilities reporting vaccination data and RIFC Pathway data through the NHSN Vaccination and COVID-19 Modules. The new definition of up to date with COVID-19 vaccines will apply for NHSN surveillance beginning the week of September 25, 2023 – October 1, 2023 (the first week of reporting Quarter 4 2023).

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health (CMS OMH) is recognizing National Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month during September. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a congenital condition resulting in the production of abnormal crescent-shaped blood cells that impair oxygen delivery, leading to pain, organ damage, infection, and potential stroke. It disproportionately affects Black and Hispanic individuals, highlighting the need for increased awareness and equitable access to comprehensive care for those affected.

Inform USA invites Information & Referral/Assistance professionals to attend an upcoming webinar for aging and disabilities I&R/A programs on organizational accreditation. The presentation will provide an overview of the role of Aging and Disability Resource Centers in the community and why becoming Inform USA accredited is important when working with stakeholders. The presentation will include a summary of the accreditation process and standards.

The National Center on Law & Elder Rights (NCLER) is hosting a virtual training session focused on preventing tax foreclosure, particularly among low-income and older homeowners. This training will emphasize the importance of ensuring that these individuals have access to all available exemptions and discounts, as many older adults who are at risk of tax foreclosure have not taken advantage of these resources.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is hosting an upcoming briefing to highlight the Elder Index, an online research tool used to calculate financial adequacy for older adults in specific locales across the country. Developed in collaboration with The University of Boston at Massachusetts and supported by the RRF Foundation for Aging, this briefing aims to advance economic security for older adults from diverse backgrounds, including older adults of color, low-income, women, LGBT, and rural populations.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are hosting an upcoming webinar to provide an overview of the recently announced “States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity and Development (AHEAD) Model.” The AHEAD Model team will discuss the goals and key components of the Model, including statewide targets, hospital global budgets, and primary care transformation.
