The Administration for Community Living (ACL) and the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary (OASH), in collaboration with other organizations, are organizing a webinar focused on addressing sexual violence against individuals with disabilities, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). This webinar aims to raise awareness about the higher rates of sexual assault experienced by this community and the accessibility barriers they face in accessing care and support services.

The Administration for Community Living is hosting a webinar as part of its series on Strengthening Advocacy in the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Settings Rule. During this webinar, the ACL will review Appendix F of the HCBS Waiver application, which outlines the safeguards provided for participants and the required fair hearing process, dispute resolution process, and grievance system. The webinar will also discuss the importance of stakeholder involvement in the application process.

The webinar will explore the Home and Community-Based Programs VHA offers and provide information on resources to assist Veterans with decision-making for long-term care decisions.

Join us in commemorating World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on June 15. This global event provides an opportunity to raise awareness and promote education on the issue of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

The Commit to Connect initiative, aimed at reducing social isolation and loneliness and promoting social connections, is hosting two events this month. Join Commit to Connect on April 19 for a Peer-to-Peer Exchange focused on outreach, specifically finding and engaging participants for social isolation and loneliness programs.

During this webinar, participants will learn about the efforts of two ACL Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative grantees to create sustainable dementia programs. The various aspects of community, organizational and financial sustainability will be explored. Specific strategies and methods will be discussed, including the use of outcomes data, organizational fit, potential models and funding sources to sustain programs.
