Overview of Accessible Formats

Event Description: 

SAR-TAC, the self-advocacy resource and technical assistance center funded by ACL and managed by Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) is hosting a new webinar series on accessibility and writing in plain language. The first webinar in the series is intended for government and nonprofits. The webinar will serve as a general overview of accessible formats, plain language, and basic principles for accessible writing. The webinar will also include a question and answer portion. 

This webinar will be held on Monday, April 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.

Creative Fundraising for Senior Nutrition Programs

Event Description: 

ACL’s Office of Nutrition and Health Promotion Programs is hosting a webinar to explore creative ways to fundraise for senior nutrition programs. Attendees will learn how fundraising contributes to a sustainable program. The webinar will also explore how to identify and evaluate fundraising activities and their target audiences as well as how to develop community relationships and partnerships.

Community Living Housing Options: Perspective on Barriers and Solutions

Event Description: 

ACL is hosting a 3 part series on community-based housing options for people with I/DD. The webinars will explore barriers people with I/DD face in securing housing; highlight the limited range of housing options; and feature innovative strategies, resources, partners, and funding streams to help create more housing options for people with I/DD. The first webinar in the series will provide:

HCBS Webinar: Getting the Services You Need from the Waiver- Participant Direction

Event Description: 

Join the Administration for Community Living for the next webinar in their series on strengthening advocacy in home and community-based services. The webinar will review Appendix E and participant directed models of HCBS. Participants will hear innovative new approaches to participant directed care, and how stakeholders can have an impact on the application of that care.

Commit to Connect Initiative: Informational Webinar for Applicants

Event Description: 

Commit to Connect, an ACL initiative, aims to increase the availability of evidence-based programs and services addressing social isolation and loneliness by better understanding the current impact programs and interventions have on social connection. Their new Community of Practice (COP) will allow multiple networks and organizations to partner with Commit to Connect and implement the Upstream Social Interaction Risk Screener (U-SIRS) tool. 

Celebrate ACL's Senior Nutrition Program

Event Description: 

As part of Senior Nutrition Month, ACL’s Office of Nutrition and Health Promotion Programs (ONHPP) is hosting a webinar to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the national Senior Nutrition Program, which is funded by the Older Americans Act. This virtual event will recognize the program's impact and discuss how to continue innovating to advance the critical services the program provides to older adults in communities across the country.

The Role of Transportation in Cross-Sector Collaborations Designed to Improve Housing Stability

Event Description: 

The Housing and Services Resource Center is hosting a webinar on the role of partnerships between housing, transportation, aging and disability, and health resources in supporting housing stability and community living for older adults and people with disabilities. The webinar will highlight effective collaborations with public transportation, share technical assistance resources that can be used to strengthen community transportation partnerships, and answer questions from attendees. 

This webinar will be held on Monday, February 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET. 

Webinar on HCBS Waiver Participant Centered Service Planning and Delivery

Event Description: 

Join the Administration for Community Living for a webinar on person centered service planning and delivery. The webinar will review Appendix D, how person centered planning and service delivery in HCBS waivers can be applied and the impact taking a person centered approach can have on the quality of services received by individuals. Colorado will also present its efforts to design a more person centered approach across all of its waiver programs.
