Addressing direct care workforce shortages across the nation requires partnership across multiple stakeholders, including managed care organizations (MCOs). State expectations of MCO accountability around workforce development is evolving in light of workforce shortages, compelling MCOs to rethink existing provider support models and explore value-based payment arrangements with providers. What innovations have we seen in collaboration among MCOs, unions, states, and providers to support workforce development? What is the role of MCOs in continuing to support direct care workforce development after American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding ends?
This LTQA webinar will explore tested models and promising practices from New York and from one multi-state MCO, including examples of value-based payment arrangements with providers, and how MCOs are partnering on the use of ARPA funds to develop the direct care workforce. This session will also feature a panel discussion of opportunities for collaboration on workforce development and challenges that remain, including how MCOs are considering investing in this space.
