Improving Aging Services for LGBT Seniors

Research shows that LGBT older adults are less likely to access health and social services, which makes the need to engage them in the community even more important. RThis webinar will instruct best practices for helping LGBT older adults feel more included and some of the interpersonal skills that professionals can apply when reaching out and working with this community.

Participants will:

• Learn about the culture, needs and concerns of LGBT older adults;
• Explore the reasons why LGBT older adults are less likely to access health and social services;
• Identify best practices for helping LGBT older adults to feel more included; and
• Practice the interpersonal skills needed to effectively reach out to, and work with, the LGBT community.

The webinar will be presented by Tim Johnston, Manager of Education and Training for the National Resource Center of LGBT Aging.
