Senior Center Vaccine Initiative – Q&A

Event Description: 

Join the National Council on Aging for a Q&A session about the Senior Center Vaccine Initiative. Through this initiative, NCOA will contract with up to 150 senior centers to provide a minimum of 100 COVID-19 or flu shots. Participating senior centers will receive $10,000 that can be used to support their efforts. NCOA staff will be available to answer questions about eligibility, application, scope of work, reporting, etc.

Family Violence and Abuse in Later Life

Event Description: 

The National Center on Law & Elder Rights (NCLER) is hosting a webinar to educate professionals working with older adults about recognizing the types of abuse and common methods used to assert control over older adults. This session will also delve into ways that legal assistance, elder rights, and aging services professionals can work with older survivors of abuse in later life, utilizing person-centered approaches, trauma-informed practices, and strategies to prevent further harm.

June Stakeholder Meeting

Event Description: 
On June 28, the Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR) is holding its annual stakeholder meeting. This interactive meeting will focus on ways to get people with disabilities more involved in the federal disability and rehabilitation research process. This topic will be discussed by several panelists and will be supplemented by multiple question-and-answer sessions throughout the course of the meeting. There will also be breakout sessions for attendees to discuss ICDR’s focus areas, including COVID-19, equity, and disability data and statistics. 

Meeting People Where They Are: Partnerships with Independent Living and Assistive Technology Programs to Address Homelessness and Housing Stability for People with Disabilities and Older Adults

The Housing Services and Resource Center (HSRC) is hosting a webinar that will highlight the benefits of partnerships between Centers for Independent Living (CILs), statewide Assistive Technology (AT) Act programs, and Continuums of Care (CoC) programs in the development and implementation of ongoing strategies to address homelessness. Participants of this webinar will learn about resources and programs available to connect people to services and assistive technology, and how these programs can promote housing stability.

Creating a Disability-Inclusive Workplace: The Role of Accommodations

To celebrate the anniversaries of the Rehab Act and ADA, EARN and the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) are hosting a discussion on the significance of accommodations in achieving the goals of the Rehab Act and ADA and how they contribute to creating inclusive workplaces. Some people with disabilities need accommodations for equal workplace opportunity and success at work. A transparent and coherent accommodation process is not only required by the Rehab Act and ADA but also is a salient part of cultivating an inclusive workplace culture.
