Debunking the Myths of Supported Decision-Making and Guardianship

Event Description: 

The Arc is hosting a webinar about the importance of self-determination for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). During the webinar, presenters will discuss how people with I/DD can build self-determination skills and maintain control over their own lives. Participants will learn about guardianship, including the obstacles it presents, and will also hear about some less restrictive decision-making alternatives.

Rethinking Employment Services and Supports in the COVID-19 Era

Event Description: 

ACL is partnering with DHHS, ONC, and Mission Analytics to conduct a three-part webinar series on how the pandemic may present opportunities to rethink and redesign HCBS. This first webinar will focus on Supported Employment Services. Presenters will review Appendix K approaches in ID/DD waivers, service delivery strategies, and potential changes to payment structures. Future webinars will discuss Day Services and Transportation.

Certification for I&R/A Specialists in Aging/Disabilities (CRS-A/D) Webinar Training

Event Description: 

The National Information and Referral Support Center invites aging and disability professionals to join us for a webinar-based training for Information and Referral/Assistance (I&R/A) specialists in aging and disabilities. This training will provide an overview of key competencies needed for aging and disability I&R/A professionals and will provide preparation for the AIRS Certification exam for Community Resource Specialists in Aging/Disabilities (CRS-A/D).

Achieving the Promise of the ADA

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990. This year is the 30th anniversary of the ADA, and ACL is co-hosting a virtual celebration with the Office of Civil Rights. This event will focus on the progress we have made during this time as well as the challenges to inclusion that remain today.

The US Access Board is devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities. The Access Board is hosting a public board meeting in recognition of the ADA anniversary. During this meeting, ACL Administrator and Access Board Chair Lance Robertson will deliver a welcome address before a series of discussions on how the ADA has changes our country.

Getting started with the Provider Relief Fund for Medicaid, CHIP, and dental providers

Event Description: 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Provider Relief Fund (PRF), is distributing $15 billion to eligible Medicaid, CHIP, and dental providers.  If you are a provider who is interested in learning about the application process for the PRF, please register and join the webcast on July 27th.  Please feel free to share the webcast information with other providers that would be interested in participating as well.

Protecting Older Adults Against COVID-19 Related Scams and Obtaining Relief from Financial Distress

Event Description: 

NCLER is hosting a webinar focused on how to help older adults prevent COVID-19 related scams and alleviate financial distress. The webinar will present typical scams targeting older adults and discuss how to avoid them. Participants will learn about legal protections, resources for older adults, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's efforts to address fraud and provide information on recovering from financial distress.
