The 2021 VGCA Virtual Conference

Event Description: 
The Virginia Governor’s Conference on Aging has opened registration for their virtual May conference. The conference aims to bring professionals together to engage on critical issues and needs facing older adults and their caregivers as we continually adapt. The 2021 virtual conference will yield recommendations to current and future policy makers on measures to be taken to make Virginia one of the most livable states for all ages.

Emergency Broadband Benefit Webinar

Event Description: 
The FCC is hosting a consumer-focused webinar on the Emergency Broadband Benefit on April 27, 2021. The webinar will provide consumers and outreach partners with an overview of the Emergency Broadband Benefit program, eligibility information, and enrollment procedures. During the event, the FCC will discuss the materials developed for their partners’ use in conducting outreach and education about the program. 
 
The event will be streamed live on the FCC website. Registration is not required.

Strategies to Combat Social Isolation and Increase Support for Caregivers and People Living with Dementia

Event Description: 
In this webinar, Stephanie Balog, Associate Director of the Contact Center of the Alzheimer's Association, will speak about how COVID has impacted caregivers and people living with dementia, how delivery of services had to be adjusted, and what adaptations will continue when more programs and services can be offered in-person.

RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council Virtual Full Council Meeting

Community Health Workers: A Key Support For People Living With Dementia And Their Caregivers

In this webinar, attendees will learn about two programs that use community health workers to help achieve program goals. Community health workers provide support services to people living with dementia and their caregivers, including home wellness and safety checks, helping the community understand and access services, and lead dementia-focused interventions. Studies have shown that community health workers can improve health outcomes and decrease hospitalizations.
