Brain Injury Survivors Building Community & Making a Difference

Event Description: 
This webinar invites brain injury survivors, caregivers, and others who have experiences with a disability to learn ways to be successful while participating in team projects. The goal of this event is to teach what strategies work and do not work when engaging people with the lived experience of brain injury. The content of this webinar is based on brain injury survivors' experiences in NCAPPS Brain Injury Learning Collaborative from January 2020 to August 2021.
 

National Family Caregiving Strategies and Policy Recommendations from the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council

Event Description: 
This 15th annual Katz Policy Lecture will examine the RAISE Family Caregivers Act, which directs the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop a national strategy to support family caregivers. Participants will hear from keynote speaker, Alan B. Stevens, PhD, as he discusses family caregiving strategies and policy recommendations from the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council.
 
This webinar will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET.
 

Falls Prevention Week

Event Description: 
Next week, September 20-24, is Falls Prevention Week. NCOA has gathered resources for older adults, caregivers, and professionals to reduce the risk of falls. These resources include educational articles, infographics, and a fall risk assessment tool for older adults. They also offer resources for members of the aging network to use to promote Falls Prevention Week.

Financial Elder Abuse: Protection Tools & Tips from the Experts

Event Description: 
This webinar will feature speakers from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, and the California Elder Justice Coalition discussing collaborations between federal and state organizations to protect consumers. The webinar will also include best practices to prevent and respond to financial abuse.
