Get Involved: Volunteer and Advocacy Opportunities with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation

Event Description: 
This webinar will discuss the Regional Champions and Ambassador Programs programs within the foundation, the regional champion and ambassador roles, and how individuals interetsed in volunteering can get involved. The Regional Champions Program is comprised of grassroots advocates who want to engage members of congress in issues affecting the paralysis community. The Ambassador Program raises awareness of the National Paralysis Resource Center’s programs and materials at hospitals and rehabilitation centers across the country.
 

Social Isolation & Loneliness for People with Disabilities

Using the National Survey on Health and Disability, this webinar will disucss trends in social isolation and loneliness among people with disabilities in rural and urban settings. Attendees will hear from Dr. Catherine Ipsen, director of the Research and Training Center on Disability in Rural Communities at the University of Montana Rural Institute and Dr. Gilbert Gimm, Ph.D., associate professor at the Department of Health Administration at George Mason University as they explore how barriers to social participation can lead to social isolation and loneliness among the community.
