HCBS Innovation During COVID--Medicaid HCBS Payers & Providers

Event Description: 

ACL and CMS are hosting a webinar discussing the experiences of home and community-based services payers and providers in altering their service delivery models in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Presenters will also discuss how they have addressed social determinants of health (SDOH) This webinar is part of a monthly webinar series highlighting HCBS promising practices.

This webinar will be held on Thursday, November 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.

Maintaining Services and Supports for People Living with Dementia and their Caregivers During COVID-19

A National Disability Employment Awareness Month Virtual Event. Employment Innovation: Improving Work for People with Disabilities

Event Description: 

ACL announced a virtual event celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The event will focus on the work of the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). The event will highlight past, current, and future research endeavors aimed towards the advancement of employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Presentations and panel discussions include NIDILRR grantees, with remarks from ACL Administrator Lance Robertson.

Promising Practices for Promoting Flu Vaccinations for Dually Eligible Beneficiaries During COVID-19

Event Description: 

Resources for Integrated Care is hosting a webinar to discuss the benefits of flu vaccinations for dually eligible individuals and the role of health plans in ensuring beneficiaries receive flu vaccinations. The webinar will include strategies for health plans to provide access and education on the importance of annual flu vaccinations. Attendees can expect to hear from multiple health plans who will share promising practices such as establishing committees, developing effective outreach strategies, and partnering with community organizations. Rethinking ID/DD Transportation Services During the COVID-19 Era

Event Description: 

ACL is hosting an upcoming webinar on how COVID-19 has led to innovation in ID/DD transportation services. The webinar will discuss the ways that states and providers adapted during the pandemic, including updated waivers, procedural strategies, and other creative approaches to ensure continuity in home and community-based services (HCBS) and overall health and safety. This webinar will also address how lessons learned during COVID-19 can be applied to transportation services moving forward. 

ID/DD Day Services in the Era of COVID-19

Event Description: 

The COVID-19 pandemic created many challenges for people with disabilities and older adults, as well as for the disability and aging networks. But leaders rose to the challenge -- as innovators and inventors, partners and problem-solvers -- and states and ID/DD providers successfully implemented 1915(c) waiver Appendix K strategies and other creative approaches to ensure continuity in HCBS and overall health and safety. Through the pandemic, we discovered opportunities to rethink and redesign home and community-based services.

The Administration for Community Living has partnered with the CDC, HRSA, and National Institute on Aging for a webinar series on aging. As part of this series, they are hosting an upcoming webinar on how social isolation and loneliness affect older adults’ health and well-being. Specific focus will be placed on how COVID-19 has impacted older adults and the effects of health disparities. This webinar will also discuss social isolation and loneliness in the context of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Event Description: 

This webinar will highlight unique solutions to address social isolation in older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar will provide updated ACL guidance and resources to support Aging networks. Participants will hear from presenters about innovative local initiatives to combat social isolation during the pandemic, including a Wellness Recovery Action Plan to help older adults stay healthy and connected to their communities; and a partnership deploying the real-time, practical use of the Upstream Social Isolation Risk Screener by AAAs in Maryland.
