The webinar will highlight the Disability Information & Access Line (DIAL), ACL’s disability network, and other disability organizations that that support a range of communities across the country. The event will also hightlight innovative local partnerships and ways to overcome vaccination barriers.

Attendees will hear speakers discuss the impact of suicide in later life, the implementation of 9-8-8 for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and community-based resources that can help. This webinar is hosted by ACL, the National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging (NCMHA), and the National Council on Aging (NCOA).
 

Ready Seniors Workshop

Event Description: 
ACL and FEMA Region 2 have partnered to support Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and other organizations that provide services to older adultes meet the increased needs of their communities during the pandemic. This workshop welcomes emergency planners for nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior community centers, senior housing, adult day care centers, home meal delivery services, charitable organizations, and others who provide community services to attend.
 

Home Modification for Aging in Place: Federal, State, and Local Updates

Event Description: 

ACL and the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology are hosting a webinar on funding and programs for accessible, supportive home environments. A panel of speakers from federal agencies and national associations will discuss efforts to promote safe and accessible home environments, lessons learned during the pandemic, and plans for the future.

The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) is beginning a four-part webinar series on social isolation in people with disabilities. The first webinar in the series will focus on social isolation and loneliness for individuals with spinal cord injuries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elder Abuse in People Living with Dementia: Considerations for Prevention, Detection and Intervention

Event Description: 
Join the NADRC for a webinar to discuss elder abuse in people living with dementia. The session will be led by a physician and an attorney with years of experience in the field. They will discuss indicators that should raise concern, provide practical tips on when and how to intervene, and highlight the issue of capacity

Navigating Older American’s Act Title III-D During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Event Description: 
Join ACL's webinar on May 21, 2021 to discuss best practices for selecting and delivering evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs. Discussion will include an overview of programs delivered in remote, in-person, and socially-distanced formats. Attendees will hear from three ACL grant recipients about the strategies they are using to deliver these programs during the pandemic. This webinar has been rescheduled from April 23, 2021.
