ACL has annouced the date of the fourth meeting of the Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (SGRG). The Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is charged with identifying, promoting, coordinating, and disseminating to the public information, resources, and the best practices available to help grandparents and other older relatives meet the needs of the children in their care, and maintain their own physical, mental health and emotional well-being.

Promising Practices Series: Expanding, Enhancing, and Strengthening Home and Community Based Services under Section 9817 of the American Rescue Plan Act

Event Description: 
The American Rescue Plan Act provided $12.7 billion to increase access to HCBS for Medicaid beneficiaries. In May, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provided states with guidance to receive the enhanced funding. This webinar will include an overview of Section 9817 of the American Rescue Plan and presentations from Colorado and Massachusetts on innovative initiatives in their initial state spending plans. 
 

Promoting Brain Health through Education: Insights from Community-based Programs and Healthcare Systems

This webinar will discuss the connection between brain health and dementia, and share resources from ACL to help raise awareness about the significance of brain health. Participants will hear from two ACL dementia grantees, Summit County Public Health in Ohio and AltaMed Health Services Corporation in California, as they talk about why they provide education on brain health in their communities and healthcare systems.

Pandemic-Related Disaster Assistance for SSI Recipients

Event Description: 
This webinar for the National Center on Law and Elder Rights will review the new rules from the Social Security Administration regarding the effect of COVID-19 financial assistance on eligibility for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The training will cover what assistance is considered pandemic related and steps to restore or access individuals’ SSI benefits. The presentation will be given by Kate Lang from Justice in Aging.
