Savvy Saving Seniors: Steps to Avoid Scams

The National Council on Aging will hold a webinar using resources from the Savvy Saving Seniors program to teach caregivers and professionals who serve older adults how to integrate scam education into their work.

Scams targeting older adults are becoming more sophisticated, harder to spot, and increasingly costly, especially as fraudsters use new technologies, including AI, to exploit trust, urgency, fear, and financial vulnerability. Using a train-the-trainer approach, this webinar will teach participants practical ways to recognize and respond to scams across digital, online, text, email, and phone-based interactions, including telephone fraud, online phishing, identity theft, and emerging AI-enabled fraud. 

Participants will also receive access to the Steps to Avoid Scams module of NCOA’s Savvy Saving Seniors: Steps to Avoid Scams curriculum, including a facilitator toolkit with guides, presentation templates, and participant handbooks to support interactive workshops in their own communities.
