AoA Announces Availability of $10,900,000 for Alzheimer’s Disease Demonstration Grants to States Projects The Administration on Aging (AoA) is pleased to announce the availability of $10,900,000 for Alzheimer’s Disease Demonstration Grants to States (ADDGS) Projects. Funding is available for states through two (2) ADDGS Program Announcements: \"Innovation Grants to Better Serve People with ADRD\" and \"Evidence-Based Intervention Translation Grants to Serve People with People with ADRD and their Caregivers.\" Both announcements provide the opportunity for the Aging Services Network and its partners to modernize and strengthen their approach to helping individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias (ADRD) and their caregivers. Eligible applicants are agencies of State Government, which includes but is not limited to State Units on Aging. Under the \"Innovation Grants to Better Serve People with ADRD\" Announcement, AoA will award approximately 15 cooperative agreements to states with average federal funding of approximately $300,000 for an 18-month project period. Under this Announcement, AoA is particularly interested in projects that help people with ADRD who are not eligible for Medicaid but who are at imminent risk of nursing home placement and spend-down to Medicaid to remain at home and in the community. AoA is also interested in proposals that help people who are in the early stages of ADRD. Under the \"Evidence-Based Intervention Translation Grants to Serve People with ADRD and their Caregivers\" Announcement, AoA will award approximately 8 to 10 cooperative agreements with average federal funding of approximately $800,000 to cover a three year project period. The goal of this Announcement is demonstrate how the Aging Services Network can effectively implement evidence-based service interventions that help people with ADRD to remain at home and in the community. Closing dates for applications for both Announcements are August 11th, 2008. Letters of Intent are not required but are encouraged to be submitted by July 25th, 2008.
