On August 15, 2023, ADvancing States submitted comments to the Administration for Community Living (ACL) on the Older Americans Act (OAA) notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). The proposed rule aims to modernize the Older Americans Act, which has not been updated since 1988.
ADvancing States and State aging agencies overwhelmingly support the updating of the OAA regulations. However, to successfully implement these sweeping requirements and achieve the intended outcomes for OAA participants, states will need adequate time for implementation, as well as additional guidance and technical assistance from ACL. The comment letter includes specific recommendations to ACL on individual requirements included in the proposed rule.
