Futures Without Violence is hosting a convening program on emerging strategies for preventing and responding to elder abuse outside the legal system in early June. The program will explore key topics such as restorative justice, economic justice, legal system off-ramps, and community partnerships. Participants will learn to define and apply models of restorative justice, economic justice, and survivor-defined elder justice to their respective programs and work. They will also draft and share goals to enhance community-based services that cater to the needs of older adults who require alternatives to the criminal legal system. Moreover, the program will provide a platform to broaden networks of allied organizations and professionals working to end elder abuse through a restorative and prevention-oriented lens.
This convening will take place in Washington, DC, from June 7-9.
