House passes AHCA bill to repeal and replace the ACA.

On May 4th the House of Representatives voted on and passed the AHCA.; This bill would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act if enacted. The final vote was 217-213, with every Democrat and 20 Republicans voting against the measure. The bill will now go to the Senate, where it is unlikely to pass in its current form. The Senate will likely need to make a number of changes to ensure that the bill meets the budget rules necessary to pass with a 51-vote majority. Leadership may also need to make policy changes in order to address concerns that several members have raised regarding the impact of some of the provisions.
