ADvancing States is pleased to congratulate Daniel Tsai as the new Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS). Mr. Tsai previously served as the Assistant Secretary for MassHealth and as Medicaid Director. In that role, he led MassHealth through a period of significant change, including through the implementation of a Medicaid 1115 demonstration waiver.
Martha Roherty, Executive Director of ADvancing States, stated the following regarding Mr. Tsai’s appointment: “ADvancing States and our members could not be more pleased with the announcement of Mr. Tsai’s appointment as Director of CMCS, an agency that our long-term services and supports (LTSS) directors work with daily. Mr. Tsai brings critical state agency management experience that will be instrumental in his new role leading Federal policy on Medicaid and CHIP services – programs that now cover an incredible 80 million Americans. Our members look forward to working with Mr. Tsai and CMCS as states continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, address inequities in health care, and drive innovation in LTSS through state-federal partnerships.”
