Legislative Director, Office of Legislative Affairs in the Center for Policy and Evaluation

The Administration for Community Living is seeking a Legislative Director for the Office of Legislative Affairs in the Center for Policy and Evaluation. This is a full time position based in Washington DC. The position of Legislative Director leads all activities related to Federal legislative affairs that fall under the purview of Congress and authorizations (except for budget and appropriations). 

The duties include:

  • Sets the overall direction for the OLA and its staff members in implementing the agency's legislative agenda.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and supervision for Legislative performing complex, sensitive, diverse, and unique legislative analysis on political matters relating to aging and disability, and on pending health care and human services financing matters.
  • Directs the Legislative Affairs staff in the development of policy through close coordination with ACL and HHS leadership, Congress, private constituents, and stakeholders.
  • Leads the response to all congressional initiatives and conducts congressional briefings and represents the agency in congressional committee markups.
  • Oversees the analysis of legislation that is introduced in Congress which directly affect ACL, or which are of interest to the agency and assesses the impact of legislation on current policies and program direction.
  • Interprets congressional intent on proposed legislative actions and proposes a policy position based on said legislation for the agency.
