Housing for Grandfamilies: A Rising Need

The Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network will hold a webinar exploring how organizations can support access to quality, affordable housing for grandfamilies.

The scarcity of safe and affordable housing is a national challenge that poses additional challenges for older caregivers who are raising their grandchildren or other young relatives. Many housing units for older Americans do not allow minor-age tenants, causing older caregivers to find alternatives, often on short notice.

This webinar will highlight two organizations providing housing for grandfamilies. Speakers will discuss how they navigated complex regulations, funding challenges, and program design to inform implementation for organizations who are interested in following suit.

Speakers:

  • Karyne Jones, President & Chief Executive Officer, NCBA and NCBA Housing Management Corporation
  • Paul Freitag, Executive Director, West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc.
  • Jamarl Clark, Assistant Director, National Center on Grandfamilies at Generations United

Date: Wednesday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m.
