Webinar: "Live with ACL" on Implementation Planning for APS Final Rule

Event Description: 

ACL published a final rule to establish federal regulations for adult protective services (APS). ACL is aiming to support the national network that delivers adult protective services, with the goal of increasing the quality and consistency of APS. "LIVE with ACL" is a webinar series where technical assistance will be provided on compliance planning. The first webinar will address effective planning strategies, and feature two planning worksheets to assist APS programs and planning for implementation of the 2028 APS final rule.

Request for Session Proposals Open for 2025 Inform USA Conference

The Request for Session Proposals for the upcoming Inform USA Conference is open and ready to accept session ideas. The conference will be held on Monday, May 19 - Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Anaheim, California. Inform USA seeks session proposals from across the breadth of the Information and Referral field. The primary audience is I&R professionals from all levels of any organization providing community navigation in the U.S. or Canada. Submit a session proposal for an opportunity to share experiences, innovations, and lessons with I&R peers.

FEMA Webinar on Disability Discrimination

Event Description: 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Office of Civil Rights is hosting a webinar on "Preventing and Addressing Disability Discrimination" where technical assistance will be provided on disability access and information about compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Section 504 prohibits the discrimination of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that are federally funded.

Webinar: The Power of Lived Experience in the Workforce

As communities address the growing problems of homelessness, substance use, and mental health, there is also a workforce crisis that has made it more difficult to properly staff the organizations serving on the front lines. One solution is to mobilize people with lived experience — those who have experienced homelessness, problematic substance use, mental health disorders, or justice system involvement.

The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC) is hosting a webinar on the transportation issues that face the LGBTQ+ population. This webinar will spotlight the LGBTQ+ Insights Report, developed by SAGE - Advocacy and Services for LGBTQ+ Elders and based on data from NADTC’s 2021 Survey of Diverse Older Adults and People with Disabilities. The speakers will discuss key findings from the report.

Event Description: 

The webinar, Systemic and Individual Advocacy to Reduce Restraint Use in Nursing Facilities, will review the law, examine the federal government’s various initiatives to reduce restraint use and discuss individual advocacy strategies that empower a resident or resident’s representative to reject any use of restraints for a resident. Federal nursing facility law states that restraints must not be used for discipline or a facility’s convenience. According to Justice in Aging, some facilities routinely restrain ten or twenty percent (or more) of their residents.
