Webinar: Sexual Assault & Survivors with Disabilities

Event Description: 

In recognition of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living (ACL), are co-hosting a webinar for domestic and sexual violence service providers and community-based programs serving persons with disabilities. National conversations often fail to include survivors with disabilities, even though people with disabilities experience sexual violence at rates more than three times higher than people without disabilities.

Webinar: May 16th Webinar: Providing Safe and Effective Nutrition for People with Dementia

Event Description: 

ACL’s National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center has partnered with the American Society on Aging for a webinar on May 16, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET.

This presentation will identify the unique concerns and needs of people with dementia, and provide tips on how to assist in addressing these needs. It will also describe challenges of using Meals on Wheels for people with dementia.

Webinar: Measuring the Impacts of WEAAD Activities

Event Description: 

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is an opportunity to draw attention to the issue of elder abuse and to encourage action in communities. Measuring the impact of WEAAD efforts can help show funders, policy makers, researchers, and others how and why these events are important.

What is ACL' s Interest in HCBS Quality?

Event Description: 

ACL is launching an informational webinar series about the agency's commitment to and development of measures for HCBS quality. This will also provide a platform among internal and external stakeholders to share developments and collaborate on efforts concerning HCBS quality. The series will host a variety of presenters from ACL, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Quality Forum, SCAN Foundation, ADvancing States, and others.

Webinar: Lewy Body Dementia: The Importance of Comprehensive Care and Support

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living’s National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center, in collaboration with the American Society on Aging, is hosting a webinar aout Lewy Body dementia and the importance of comprehensive care and support. This webinar provides an overview of Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) and how it differs from Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s. Attendees will learn the symptoms of and treatments for LBD and how the disease affects caregivers. A person living with LBD will share first-hand experiences and compensatory strategies.

TIM Talks Webinar: Health IT and the Community Based Organization (CBO)

Event Description: 

ACL's Office of Nutrition and Health Promotion Programs (ONHPP), in collaboration with consultant Tim McNeill, invites you to a business acumen webinar on Health IT Interoperability and the Community Based Organization (CBO).

This webinar will review the requirements for Health IT and clinical integration, physician requirements, options to consider when selecting a vendor, and preparation for compliance. As always, participants will also have an opportunity to ask any other Business Acumen related questions through the chat function after the webinar presentation.

Participants who attend this webinar will learn about the steps for implementation related to the Minnesota Board on Aging’s Cultural Awareness in Dementia Care initiative.
