Strategies for Disrupting Ageism and Advancing DEI

Event Description:

Join the American Society on Aging (ASA) for an upcoming webinar exploring the complex interactions between Ageism and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), shedding light on their impact on individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds, including older adults who utilize Community-Based Organization (CBO) services. ASA will explore actionable strategies to dismantle ageist beliefs, while fostering a more inclusive and equitable society. Participants will discover how these efforts strengthen cross-sector collaboration among AAAs, CBOs and the healthcare sector, ultimately aligning physical and social health.

Participants in this webinar will:

  • Explore how biases based on age intersect with other dimensions of diversity and contribute to inequities (e.g., compounded bias due to age and race, stereotyping, healthcare disparities—marginalized older adults, representation and visibility, economic inequities, access to resources, policy, and advocacy).

  • Explore harmful stereotypes associated with different age groups and understand how they intersect with gender and other identities, magnifying discriminations.

  • Learn how organizations (including AAAs and CBOs) can create inclusive workplaces and practices that recognize and value the contributions of employees of all ages, promoting collaboration and innovation across generations and across sectors.

This webinar will take place on Tuesday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
