Event Description:
The Mathematica Center for Studying Disability Policy is presenting a webinar focused on new research on the work activity of beneficiaries with disabilities. Increased work activity for beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can increase self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on federal benefits. However, work activity among beneficiaries has not increased substantially in recent decades. This webinar discusses three studies sponsored by the Social Security Administration’s Disability Research Consortium and offers insights about the barriers beneficiaries face in the workplace.
The webinar will cover:
- The impacts of the Great Recession on SSI and SSDI beneficiaries
- Changes in the characteristics and work activities of beneficiaries from 2005 to 2015
- The topic of overpayments and the extent to which overpayments affect work activity
