NADRC is hosting an educational webinar about preserving self-efficacy in persons with dementia. This webinar will discuss the anxiety people with dementia and their families often feel over the potential loss of independence brought on by this disease. Dr. Susan Wehry, a geriatric psychiatrist, will present during this webinar. She will cover distinctions between autonomy, independence and self-efficacy, emphasize the positive effects of self-efficacy, discuss the challenges of diminishing decision-making capacity, and describe ways that professionals can support dementia patients and their families in preserving self-efficacy.
