Advancing Equity in Legal Services: Lessons Learned from the 2022 Cohort

Event Description:

NCLER and Justice in Aging developed a cohort of legal services programs providing capacity building support and tools to advance equity for older adults with a focus on community partnerships. The programs accessed an Equity Tool that provides a framework for analyzing projects for equitable impact. During this webinar participants will hear from programs that have developed an equity initiative to improve their services for older adults facing structural discrimination. Participating programs include:

  • Legal Services of Alabama, a statewide program, is improving outreach to historically discriminated communities with heir-property issues.
  • Community Legal Services in Philadelphia, PA is working to assist Black and Hispanic families impacted by Medicaid estate recovery.
  • Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, serving thirty-three counties in Minnesota, participated in a group to implement a legal risk detector to better reach Spanish speaking and Indigenous older adults through community partners.
  • Bet Tzedek Legal Services in Los Angeles, CA is developing volunteer and pro bono outreach strategies to build client pipelines for communities of color in Los Angeles County.

This webinar will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. ET.
