Accessing Benefits and Supports for Older Adults with Long COVID

Event Description: 
Long COVID is a condition where COVID-19 symptoms persist for an extended amount of time. The severity of long COVID can range from mild to incapacitating and may sometimes result in disability. Older adults and others experiencing long COVID may need significant resources and supports to maintain economic security, access healthcare, and live independently. Legal assistance, elder rights, and aging services providers can play a role to help those with disabilities caused by long COVID.
 
This training will discuss the following topics:
  • Long COVID in Social Security disability evaluations; 
  • Long COVID among older adults and coverage of treatment; and
  • Resources available for addressing additional legal needs that may arise for those experiencing long COVID.
