The Administration for Community Living (ACL) has announced a new funding opportunity titled “Advancing Strategies to Support Older Adults with Behavioral Health Conditions in the Senior Nutrition Program Setting.” This opportunity is intended to support statewide efforts that improve access to and delivery of congregate nutrition services for older adults living with behavioral health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, and those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The goal of this funding is to support projects that develop and test approaches to better serve older adults with behavioral health conditions in senior nutrition program settings. Funded projects will be expected to:
- Identify current barriers and facilitators to participation in congregate meals for this population,
- Implement person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices, and
- Develop and share Section 508-compliant resources based on project findings or existing efforts.
Projects should have the potential to be adapted or scaled across the broader aging services network.
ACL plans to fund up to two cooperative agreements for a 36-month project period from September 1, 2025, to August 30, 2028. Eligible applicants include domestic public or nonprofit entities such as state and local governments, tribal organizations, community-based organizations, colleges and universities, and hospitals. Projects must demonstrate statewide reach and include at least one Title III-C senior nutrition provider and two organizations with experience serving older adults with behavioral health conditions.
Letters of intent are requested (but not required) by Monday, July 21, 2025.
Applications are due by Tuesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
