ADvancing States has published new tip sheet profiles that focus on promising practices that agencies use to conduct education and outreach to inform consumers about benefits and to help aging and disability professionals connect clients to benefits, such as the Medicare low-income subsidies, SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), and LIHEAP (the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program). ADvancing States included questions in the Aging and Disability 2018 I&R/A National Survey to gather promising practices that organizations use for education and outreach related to public benefits.
The tip sheets include practices about:
- engaging consumers through fun and interactive games,
- a system for providing comprehensive eligibility information, and
- tools to simplify benefits information for staff.
The profiles highlight practices from Care Connection for Aging Services in Missouri, the Ability Center of Greater Toledo in Ohio, and Elder Services of Worcester Area in Massachusetts.
