Addressing Health Disparities in People Living with Dementia

Event Description: 
This webinar features two presenters who will discuss health disparities in people living with dementia. The first presenter will be Andrea Garr, a dementia specialist who contributed to the planning for and efforts to build a dementia-friendly-dementia-capable Milwaukee County. She will speak about her experiences with the United Family Caregivers project in Milwaukee and cover best practices when working in cross-cultural environments with African American caregivers. 
 
The second presenter is Lisa Barnes, Ph.D., is a cognitive neuropsychologist who directs the Rush Center of Excellence on Disparities in HIV and Aging. Dr. Barnes will focus on disparities in Alzheimer's dementia and cognitive impairment as it relates to African Americans. She will describe potential explanations for disparities in Alzheimer's dementia between African Americans and whites.
