See Me at the Portrait Gallery - Smithsonian Pilot Program for Adults with Dementia & their Caregivers

Event Description:

A new pilot program is launching this fall at the Smithsonian. In collaboration with Art & Minds, the National Portrait Gallery will be hosting a 6-week program for adults with dementia and their caregivers. The program is entitled See Me at the Portrait Gallery. A team of museum educators and docents will be facilitating small group discussions about some of the museum’s most treasured works of art. By providing opportunities for cognitive, physical, and social stimulation through the exploration and the sharing of ideas, they aim to improve the well-being of adults with dementia and their caregivers.

See Me will take place throughout the fall of 2017 and into 2018. Programs will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET at the National Portrait Gallery (please use the entrance located on G Street NW). The dates for the pilot program are as follows.
