Benefits University: Understanding the "Terms of Art" of the Application

Event Description:

Helping clients to apply for benefits is sometimes a complex process, not least because the eligibility requirements can vary widely between core programs. At the same time, agencies administering each have their own terminology that can be confusing for those unfamiliar with the program.

This NCOA Webinar will address these issues, including:

  •     The distinctions between different types of income, including deemed, in-kind, gross vs. net, earned vs. unearned;
  •     Common income disregards and deductions (and the difference between the two);
  •     What counts as assets/resources;
  •     Forms of documentation (and where to find them); and
  •     How to find specific program rule information.

This webinar is primarily intended for new counselors, but anyone is welcome to join.
