Public Meeting - RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living has announced the first meetings of the advisory councils established by the Recognize, Assist, Include, Support and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act and the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (SGRG) Act. The RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council is responsible for providing recommendations on effective models of family caregiving and support to family caregivers, as well as improving coordination across federal government programs.

Overview of ACL’s Protection and Advocacy Systems

Event Description: 

The Adult Protective Services Technical Assistant Resource Center (APS TARC) is hosting a webinar on ACL's protection and advocacy systems. Jennifer Johnson and Ophelia McLain of the Office of Program Support, Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities within the Administration on Disabilities in ACL will provide an overview the four protection and advocacy systems funded by ACL: developmental disabilities, assistive technology, traumatic brain injury, and voting. Protection and advocacy programs are designed to advocate for people with disabilities.

Intergenerational Connections Help Build Healthy and Prosperous Communities

Event Description: 

ACL is hosting a webinar about the value of intergenerational programming. During the webinar, presenters will describe the role intergenerational programs play in building healthy communities, discuss the federal programs and initiatives that focus on boosting older adult community engagement, highlight new research on the health benefits of volunteering, and share how intergenerational programs promote community engagement in boosting resilience.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Stakeholder Day

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is observing Brain Injury Awareness Month by holding Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Stakeholder Day on March 12, 2019. ACL’s TBI Stakeholder Day is an opportunity for members of the TBI community to discuss important issues related to TBI with other stakeholders, brain injury survivors, family members, support networks, and state and federal representatives.

Filling the Gap in Oral Health for Older Adults: A Community Guide to Program Implementation

Event Description: 

This webinar will highlight publicly available tools for communities which would enable them to start or enhance oral health program for older adults. During this webinar, presenters will discuss issues of oral health and older adults and provide an overview of available tools. These tools include a searchable database of vetted, low-cost, community-based oral health services and a step by step guide on how to develop and operate cost-effective, sustainable oral health programs for older adults.
