Access to SSI – Improving Language Access for SSI and Social Security Beneficiaries

Event Description:

Justice in Aging will host a webinar on how language access works for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security applicants and beneficiaries and will discuss proposals to reduce barriers to access in this area. The application process for SSI and Social Security disability benefits can be daunting for everyone, and for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP), language access is an additional barrier that can make this process even more difficult. The webinar expands on Justice in Aging’s issue brief, Improving Language Access for SSI and Social Security Beneficiaries. The webinar is directed to advocates working with older adults and people with disabilities who are eligible for SSI or Social Security, and individuals who work in communities with, or on behalf of, LEP older adults.

Presenters:

  • Tracey Gronniger, Managing Director, Economic Security, Justice in Aging
  • Trinh Phan, Director, State Income Security, Justice in Aging

This webinar will take place on Thursday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
