The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) is seeking a Senior Policy Fellow. The position is responsible for providing policy analysis and technical assistance to states on aging and disability areas, Medicaid managed long-term services and supports, direct care workforce, palliative care, and nursing home reform. The Senior Policy Fellow will be a subject matter expert to support working groups of state officials by providing technical expertise to advance actionable policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with NASHP's project leadership to develop approaches for supporting state officials who are seeking to improve the health and well-being of older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers
- Researching and writing of white papers on issues critical to the policy area
- Supporting learning collaboratives of diverse state officials
- Providing targeted technical assistance to state officials
- Giving speeches at meetings and conferences
- Working independently and as part of a team to design and conduct policy research and analyses; these may include literature reviews and syntheses, surveys, key informant interviews, case studies, and focus groups
- Serving as a mentor to more junior staff, sharing technical expertise, and helping them develop experience and skills relevant to their work at NASHP, facilitating their professional development and knowledge of applicable policies.
Requirements:
- At least 20 years of experience in the state aging and disability policy
- At least 5 years of leadership experience
- Master's degree or other graduate degree in public policy, gerontology, economics, public health, law, or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Substantial knowledge of relevant state health policy
