NRHA Call for Best Practices: 2024 Compendium of Rural-Healthy-Aging Initiatives & Best Practices

Event Description: 

The National Rural Health Association (NRHA), in partnership with the John A. Hartford Foundation (JAHF), is calling for submissions for their compendium of rural-healthy-aging initiatives and best practices in rural communities. The best practices compendium is being compiled as a component of the National Rural Age-Friendly Initiative. Organizations with relevant programs, models, or policies aimed at enhancing the quality of aging in rural communities are encouraged to submit their contributions for inclusion in the compendium.

Exploring the Future of Public Transportation Research National Online Dialogue

In partnership with the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), the Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) invites individuals to participate in an ePolicyWorks national online dialogue titled “Exploring the Future of Public Transportation Research.” This virtual conversation aims to enhance policies and practices that will make public transit safer, cleaner and greener, as well as more resilient, inclusive and equitable.

Medicare Program: Appeal Rights for Certain Changes in Patient Status

Event Description: 

On December 21, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule to implement Medicare appeals processes for hospital patients whose status during their stay changes from inpatient to observation. The proposed rule sets forth new appeals procedures to implement the court order in Alexander v. Azar which directed the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish both standard and expedited appeals for class members in the case.

Deadline Extended: Aging and Disability Business Institute CBO-Health Care Contracting Survey

USAging’s Aging and Disability Business Institute has extended the deadline to participate in their latest Community-Based Organization and Health Care Contracting Survey. This survey is open to all types of aging and disability community-based organizations (CBOs) and networks regardless of whether they are currently contracting with a health care entity. It aims to help understand how CBOs and networks are contracting with health care entities to provide services to older adults and people with disabilities in a rapidly evolving market.

Switzer Research Fellowships Program

On December 1, The Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) announced a new funding opportunity for the Switzer Research Fellowships Program. The purpose of this program is to build research capacity by providing support to highly qualified individuals, including those who have disabilities, to conduct research on the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities.

Community-Driven, Multi-Payer Health Equity Solutions: An ECHO Collaborative

Event Description: 

The Partnership to Align Social Care, with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), is initiating a two-year health equity learning collaborative (HELC) project titled “Community-Driven, Multi-Payer Health Equity Solutions: An ECHO Collaborative.” Led by Freedmen’s Health Consulting, this initiative will bring together up to 20 market-based teams comprising participants representing health plans, health systems, community-based organizations (CBOs) or community care hubs (CCHs), and individuals with lived experience to address health equity within their communities
