Supporting Older Adults with Substance Use Disorders

Event Description: 

Resources for Integrated Care is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, May 16 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. ET. This webinar will focus on the growing number of older adults with substance use disorders (SUD). In particular, dually eligible beneficiaries are at a much higher risk of experiencing co-occurring chronic pain and substance use disorder than Medicare only beneficiaries. During this webinar, presenters will review SUD screening tools, go over the diagnosis process, and discuss how people can access appropriate treatment resources.

An Introduction to Person Centered Thinking

Getting Smart(er) with the NRCNA

The National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging (NRCNA) has relaunched their website. NRCNA is hosted by Meals on Wheels America and provides resources on nutrition, aging, healthcare integration, innovative program practices and more. The goal of the online portal is to modernize the provision of senior nutrition services. The new website incorporates a series of innovative updates, including a new interface and customized search options.
 

Exploring Strategies to Engage Veterans in Community-Based Health Promotion Programs

Event Description: 

NCOA is hosting a webinar that will focus on connecting Older Veterans with benefits and services which promote healthy aging. The health of Older Veterans is particularly important because over half of Veterans are over 65, and Older Veterans have a disproportionately large burden of disease as compared to civilians.

Elder Justice Training

Event Description: 

The Nebraska State Unit on Aging is co-sponsoring a training for professionals in the aging network in collaboration with the Nebraska State Bar Association Elder Law Section. Some of the topics covered will include Caregiving in Today's Environment, Cybersecurity, and Medicaid eligibility. This training will take place via live-stream on June 12. Participants may view the live-stream on their individual computers, or go to any of the twelve physical locations in Nebraska showing the stream. Participation is free, but registration is required. 

The CHRONIC CARE Act: New Opportunities to Advance Complex Care Through Community-Clinical Partnerships

Event Description: 

The CHRONIC CARE Act was passed in February 2018 as part of the Bipartisan Budget Act. This law uses a variety of mechanisms to improve care quality for populations with complex needs, including people with disabilities and older adults. This webinar from the Aging and Disability Institute is intended to explain how the CHRONIC Care Act can improve care for these populations, what changes the act will cause, and how it creates the potential for further CBO integration with health plans.
